    Questions about the card and opening an account

    Q.1 How long will it take for me to get my new MiCash card?

    Please allow 7-10 business days to receive your card by mail.

    Q.2 How do I activate my card so that I can begin using it?

    When you receive your card in the mail, there should be a sticker on the front of your card with instructions on how to activate it. If you have already removed the sticker, simply call 1-855 MICASH1 (642-2741) and follow the instructions. Enter the 16 digit card number from the front of your card. When prompted, enter the 4 digit temporary Passcode, which is printed on the card carrier underneath your card. The system will ask you for your 8 digit date of birth in the format mmddyyyy (for example, if you were born on September 3, 1969, enter 09031969).

    Q.3 What is my PIN number for and how do I change it?

    Your PIN number is used for everyday transactions like debit purchases or ATM withdrawals. You may change your PIN by calling the 800 number on the back of your card. You may also change your PIN at the time you activate your card.

    Q.4 What should I do if I lose or forget my PIN?

    Call the number on the back of your card to have your PIN or PASSCODE reset. MiCash recommends that you keep your PIN and Passcode secure at all times.

    Q.5 What should I do if my card is lost or stolen?

    Call MiCash Customer Service at 1-855 MICASH1 (642-2741) to have your card account transactions suspended. Your balance will be transferred to a new MiCash card. MiCash will send you the new personalized card that will arrive at your home in 7-10 days ($10 replacement fee applies).

    Q.1 How do I use the card to pay bills?

    If your biller offers payment by MasterCard, you may follow the credit card payment instructions provided by your biller. Many billers offer the option to pay by phone or online using a MasterCard card.Or you can log in to your MiCash account, click on "Use Your Card", then on "Bill Pay" and follow the instructions.

    Q.2 What is "Cash-back?"

    When making a debit card purchase that requires a PIN number, some merchants will allow you to get cash from your card for no additional charge. Ask your cashier if they offer cash back and save money on ATM fees.

    Q.3 Should I use credit or debit when making a purchases?

    Either one is fine. Debit purchases require you to enter your PIN code at the register and allow you to get cash back where merchants offer this service. Credit purchases require a signature. Your price is the same either way.

    Q.4 What is the best way to send or share money using my MiCash card?

    You may order a Free MiCash Maestro Companion Card by calling the customer service number on the back of your card. The Companion Card will be sent to you by mail, and you can give it to anyone you choose. You may also share money with other MiCash cardholders. To transfer the money from your card to another, simply log into your card account online by clickong on the the "Manage Your Card Account" link in the upper right hand corner of this website's header, or call customer service.

    Q.5 What are TEXT MESSAGE ALERTS for and how do I sign up?

    To sign up for text alerts, you must log into your card account online at www.micash.net. MiCash does not charge you for the text alert service; however, please check with your cellular service to see if they charge fees for sending and receiving text alerts.

    Q.6 What is the MiCash Maestro Companion card?

    It’s a 2nd card that can receive money from the primary cardholder. You can send the Companion Card to friends or family members, share money to it, and then they can use it at ATMs and shops where Maestro is accepted.

    Q.7 Where can the MiCash Maestro Companion card be used?

    Maestro is honored at shops, restaurants and cash machines in over 100 countries around the world; just look for the Maestro logo. Maestro is backed by MasterCard Worldwide.

    Q.8 Can I pay for gas using my MiCash Card?

    Yes, you can use your card to pay for gas; however, when you select the option to pay at the pump, the gas station may put a hold up to $75 on your card, which is released once your purchase is complete. If your card balance is lower than the amount of the hold, your transaction will be declined. An easier way to pay for gas is to pay in advance inside the station using your card.

    Q.9 How can I add cash to my card?

    You may add cash to your MiCash card at over 96,000 retail locations in the United States. Three easy options are available for your convenience:
    * Money Gram agents
    * western Union agents
    * Green Dot MoneyPak

    To find your nearest location, log in to your MiCash accountand click on "add Money".

    Green Dot MoneyPak – You may load your card with a Green Dot MoneyPak. MoneyPaks are sold at the following stores nationwide: Walgreens, CVS Pharmacy, Rite Aid, K-Mart, Kroger, Meijer, Ralphs, Winn-Dixie, and Wal-Mart.

    To load your card using a MoneyPak, simply pick up a MoneyPak and take it to the cashier. The retailer will charge you $4.95 for the MoneyPak and load your money onto the MoneyPak. You will then need to follow the directions on the MoneyPak to apply the funds to your card, which will be available immediately.

  3. Direct Deposit

    There are several ways to take advantage of direct deposit.

    Q.1 How do I have my pay deposited to my card?

    It is free to have your pay deposited directly to your card. Simply give a completed copy of the Direct Deposit Authorization Form to your payroll administrator. When you receive your card package, a direct deposit form is included for your convenience. On the direct deposit form, you may select to have all or a portion of your pay to be automatically loaded to your MiCash Prepaid MasterCard card. As an alternative to the Direct Deposit Authorization form, you can also provide your employer with your card account number and the following ABA Routing Number.

    Q.2 Can I have my federal benefits directly deposited to my MiCash Card?

    Yes, you may also have your federal benefit payments directly deposited to your card for FREE. Load your Social Security, Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or other federal benefits to your card. To sign up for direct deposit to your card, contact Go Direct at 1-800-333-1795 or visit their website Go Direct to enroll online. Simply provide the following ABA routing number and your card number to enroll.

    Q.3 Can I have my pay from a 2nd job or other income source deposited directly to my card?

    Sure. Download our Direct Deposit Authorization form. You can give this form to a second employer, the IRS for tax refunds, or to a government agency for disbursement checks.
