The tips are perfect especially for the upcoming holidays! I am throwing a Christmas party soon. Part of the original plan includes buying cooked meals and renting a place but after reading this article i realized that it will be more practical if I ask each of my friends to bring their favorite party food or contribute their expertise may it be in art music or decorations. Aside from being able to cut cost this will be more fun and exciting because everyone gets to be involved.

Whenever I have a party, I always get a head count of the people who are coming. Other than that, a few months before the event, I allot a specific amount like a few thousands for the expenses needed for the party from food to the decoration. With the head count, I know how much food I'm going to buy or cook and sometimes, I just add a few extra food just in case there are unexpected guests that are coming.

When it comes to group parties, I highly suggest my friends to do potluck since it's really effective and since there are many who are coming, they can bring more food to add to the variety of food to eat. Sometimes, it's all in the planning, saving/budgeting and the execution to make the almost perfect parties!

Nice post btw!

I find potlucks to be most helpful when it comes to parties. It helps you save while having fun, especially since you get to share recipies and food that you like with others (or you think others will like). It also makes parties more memorable and personal because each guest gets to share in 'setting up' the dinner table and the menu for the gathering. It's very wise and practical, and so far is a practice that hasn't gone out of social acceptability.
