It’s that time of the year again when merry-making is pretty much all around. We regularly find ourselves in a party hosted by our friends, our work colleagues or our relatives. Eventually, we may find ourselves in the nigh-inevitable position to host a party or two for them, and this year may not be an exception.

Hosting a party could be costly. However, you do not need to break the bank to host a great party that will make everyone talk about. You don’t even need to hire a professional party planner to throw a great party. All you need to do is use your imagination, creativity and good old common sense. After all, a great party need not be expensive; it just needs to be unforgettable and fun.

To help you prepare a great holiday party that will wow your guests, but without having to dig deep into your pocket, here are some tips that will help you plan for a wonderful party this holiday season:

Plan Ahead with a Solid Budget

Nothing beats setting a solid plan if you want to do things on a tight budget. Your budget could be anywhere between $50 to $1,000, but the amount doesn’t really matter. What matters is that you set a limit to how much you should spend. Write down a list of all the items that you need for the party. This will give you a good overview of how much of your budget goes to what. This is also great so you won’t fall into the costly trap of impulse buying.

For items that you may need but find too expensive, you may opt to borrow them from your friends or neighbours or buy these items at a thrift store. There is no sense in buying an expensive item that you may only need to use once. If you need to use a barbecue grill, for example, it may be a good idea to borrow it from one of your invited guests ahead of the party. This way, you can be sure that your friend’s grill will be free for the day, as he will be attending your party anyway.

Let Your Creativity Run Free

Put your creativity to good use this holiday season. It may also be a good idea to involve your friends and relatives in planning for the party! You can ask them to help you pick good decor, or you can even ask if they can spare some decent Christmas decor to enliven the party. However, you do not want your party to end up as just another party. Make it unique. Make it a delightfully unforgettable experience for your guests. Apart from asking your friends to help you out in decorating the party, you may also want to look around, especially on the Internet for some cool ideas.

Making your own Dish

While outside catering may sound good owing to the fact that it can save a lot of time, you may not be able to serve a truly satisfying meal to your guests. Cooking your own dishes will save you money and will give you great flexibility in preparing great food that you really want to serve. Bake your own cake, if you will.

To add variety to your menu, ask your guests if they could bring a dish to the party – although this may sound a bit off for some. Do you think they will be turned off by the idea? Chances are that they won’t, if you will challenge them to bring their best dish that they would want to show off to other guests. Maybe a small contest can even be made of it!

It’s really fun to host christmas parties and the good part is that you can bond with your family and close friends. In my situation, I host parties as long as it’s a pot luck – i provide the venue, the theme and some food and they should bring extra food. With that, I cut costs and lots of time because i don’t need to buy everything for the party. – As long as it’s a potluck party, Im ready to host anytime!

Christmas is a time for the birthday of our Lord but also, it is the time for fun in the form of parties and lots and lots of celebration. With this, it is really important when you go to parties, make sure you bring something (anything like food, beverage or alcoholic drinks) so that the person hosting won’t think you just went there for the people and food. It’s always good to be considerate to be helpful in some little way. In other words, even if you are not required to bring anything, be generous enough to give something back to the person or family who is hosting the festivities. This is an awesome post! Great job guys! Love your topics.
